Cast visits hospital to cheer up young patients

WHILE hundreds of children have already enjoyed the Peter Pan pantomime at HM Theatre, many others in the Royal Aberdeen Children’Hospital have been missing out on the festive fun.

So cast members paid a visit to the hospital yesterday to bring some seasonal cheer.

Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and his right-hand man, Smee, spent the morning with the youngsters, chatting and singing songs.

They also brought some pirate treasure, including eye patches, hats and swords.

Lesley Middleton, senior corporate communications manager for NHS Grampian, said the session had been a roaring success.

She said: “The children were absolutely delighted to see the characters. The younger ones were a bit timid to begin with.

“Within five minutes they were enraptured and all smiles. Their eyes lit up when they saw the bits and bobs the cast had brought for them.

“It was a great success and we are obviously very grateful to everyone at the theatre.”

The show, starring Neighbours actor Alan Fletcher as Captain Hook and BBC’Any Dream Will Do runner-up Keith Jack as Peter Pan, will run until January 4.
